My Sunset Visit
I reached the top of Phnom Krom at 5:00 PM, just in time for sunset. The sky was beautifully clear, and February's green rice fields made the view even more stunning.
As you arrive at the summit, you’ll step onto the ancient Phnom Krom Temple—a special spot that adds a historical touch to your visit.
🏛 About Phnom Krom Temple:
-
Built by: King Yasovarman I
-
Date: Late 9th century (around 889–910 AD)
-
Dedicated to: The Hindu trinity – Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma
-
The temple is one of three mountain temples built during the same era, along with Phnom Bok and Phnom Bakheng.
After admiring the temple, I recommend moving toward the west side of the hill to catch the sunset. There are two sides you can choose from:
-
Right side – Offers a nice view, but space is a bit limited.
-
Left side – My personal favorite. It’s more spacious, and you get a spectacular view of Tonlé Sap Lake to the south, with the sun setting beautifully on the horizon.
The east side of the hill is more popular with locals, who come to relax, enjoy drinks, and have snacks while chatting with friends.
